Search Australian Honours

The Australian Honours Database is an official record containing over 240,000 entries, of people who have been honoured since federation through to the present day, with the exception of military campaign service and military long service awards. Please note: Defence campaign/service medals do not appear in this collection as Defence award administration is the responsibility of the Australian Government - Department of Defence.

The Australian Honours Database does not include records for some non-gazetted awards, including some recipients of the National Medal, Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal and other awards.  If you are not able to find the information you are looking for, you should contact the Honours Secretariat at Government House, Canberra which holds a complete list of recipients of awards in the Australian honours system.  You can authorise Government House to provide your personal honours information to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to add to the database.

The database contains records of Australian honours recipients who have agreed to have their details published on this website. If you want to know more about this database visit the About the Database section of this website.

When honours announcements take place i.e. Australia Day, Queen’s Birthday or Bravery Decorations, these announcements are published in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette and information about honours recepients can be accessed at this site through the honours search options. You can also search for non-gazetted awards.

You are able to search in a number of ways:

You can search for an individual person or do a multiple search, such as for a number of recipients in a specific region over a specified time and with a specific award. You can make comparisons and develop statistics about the type of people who have received awards.

While every effort has been made to ensure this list is as comprehensive as possible, not all names of honours recipients will appear when a search is done. This is due to a range of factors, one of which is the request of recipients not to have their details listed.

If you have any questions about these records, please use the Contact Us section of the website.
