A. Media comment on Australian honours and national symbols matters is not provided by the Awards and Culture Branch of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Q. How can I get a copy of an embargoed listing prior to the public announcement of honours recipients?
A. The Honours Secretariat at Government House distributes kits under embargo to media outlets approximately one week prior to the official announcements. A strict code of confidentiality applies to the use of this information. If you require a copy of the kit prior to the Australia Day and Queen’s Birthday announcements, or Bravery Awards, contact the Honours Secretariat on 1800 552 275 or 02 6283 3533.
Q.How can I get in touch with the honours recipients to arrange an interview?
A. The media kits made available by the Honours Secretariat prior to the official announcements contain lists of recipients and phone numbers. If a phone number does not appear on the list for certain recipients it means they do not wish to be contacted by media representatives.
Q. When does information about the latest honours announcements become available on the website?
A. The names of Order of Australia honours recipients are made public on the It’s an Honour website by 1.00am on Australia Day and the Queen’s Birthday. Recipients of Bravery Awards are listed by 9.00am on the two days of announcement—which are usually in March/April and August each year.
Q. How many Australian honours are announced each year?
A. Up to 25 Companions of the Order of Australia (AC); 100 Officers of the Order of Australia (AO); 225 Members of the Order of Australia (AM); and 450 Medals of the Order of Australia (OAM) are awarded each year, in addition to more than 100 Bravery Awards.

A. The Australian Honours List (AHL) is an official record, containing over 224,000 entries, of Australians who have been honoured since federation through to the present day, with the exception of military campaign service and military long service awards. You can do a search of all recipients of Australian honours by going to the Search Australian Honours section of this site
Q. Can I get photographs of honours recipients?
A. For privacy reasons, photographs of recipients of honours are not available on this website.
